Based in Amsterdam
Tosca Schift is an artist working with film, performance, sculpture and cinematic installations. Her practice explores the visceral body and ancestral narratives, engaging questions of identity, heritage, and spirituality. Through divinatory and associative inquiry, she examines her colonial family history, psychic fragmentation, and displacement.
Schift completed the Master of Film: Artistic Research in and Through Cinema, following a bachelor’s degree in Product Design. Her material-driven praxis - rooted in embodied making - shapes a sensitive attunement to the camera as an extension of the body and to material as a carrier of memory.
Between 2019 and 2023, Schift was part of the collective ANT EYE, with whom she screened and exhibited work internationally. In 2022, she received the Talent Development Grant from the Creative Industries Fund NL. Her cinematic performance It’s too cold for the spirits to live here” premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2026.
